Phase I: COMPLETED!

Blowing kisses and chucking the deuces to the lbs.
I just lost!
I did it guys! I FINALLY finished Phase I. I am soooo happy that I had the willpower and strengh to get past this! I must say, at first it was not easy AT ALL. I had to pray a lot, and basically beat myself up, but I made it and I couldn't be happier!

So for the past 9 days, I have been on detox. No sweets, no breads, no meat. Basically, fruits and veggies. At first, I would run around like a chicken with my head cut off. I was so used to either having meat daily, or at least a piece of bread. Being at home with my mom and sister cooking didn't help, AT ALL. The foods ranged from pizza, to pasta, to chicken and gravy and rice with rolls. All the foods I couldn't have, I was around almost everyday! It sucked because I had to fight the urges, I had to will myself not to cheat late at night when everyone would go to sleep. Honey, it was HARD! I'd sit there like...just one piece of bread won't hurt, right?  Just one slice of pizza won't hurt, right? I fought against myself. I fought against my old self, that is.

During this process, I have learned to enjoy to cook my own meals. Gone are the nights where I would try to go and get some McDonald's or Wendy's, because there was nothing to eat.(OK, confession time. I cheated on Friday. We went bowling, and I ate pizza. I felt so ashamed. But, I recovered quickly!) I had to buy all of my foods in advance, so that I would have something for the week. The first few days were hard. I found myself getting tired of eating vegetables all the time. I have never been good with fruit, so I started making fruit smoothies to get my fruit intake. I bought a bag of frozen fruit, and I would add that, non-fat plain yogurt, 2% reduced fat milk, and ice. It came out pretty good, and I've learned to enjoy fruit that way. As far as the veggies, I usually bought the steam-bag veggies, and then I would cook them on the stove, mix them together and mix in some brown rice. For the most part, I would eat salad as well. I would add carrots and onions, sometimes a small amount of crackers, and mix in my light raspberry vinaigrette. When I would cook, I would make sure that I was beginning to use smaller portions. You are supposed to eat 4-5 meals a day. It took a while to do that because I was used to eating 1-2 meals a day. I am now up to 3-4, so I think I am doing pretty well.

The only problems I have had was my sleep schedule. I have been having a hard time sleeping at night, so I had to fight the urges of grabbing something to eat late at night. I think by day 3, I had smashed that habit. The other problem was exercising. I have never been the type to like to exercise. To be honest, it was my nemesis. I started off light. I would get on that Micheal Jackson "The Experience." Don't laugh, if you mimic ALL of his movements, and not just the arms, it is a pretty good workout. Since I REFUSE to go to the gym, I pulled out my old Wii Active. I started the 6-week challenge, and it gives you full body workout. By, day 2 of exercising, I felt good. Ok, I won't lie, I felt like my body had been beaten with rock-filled socks...over and over again. I was tired. My body wasn't used it..at all. I couldn't remember the last time I had exercised with is pretty sad.

All in all, I have done pretty well this past 9 days, and it has showed. I lost 9 pounds. I stepped on the scale, shaking, scared out of my mind. I didn't quite know what to think, but I lost it, and it makes me want to continue on to Phase II. My goal is to lose at least 30 pounds by my birthday on March 31. My ultimate goal is to lose at least 80 pounds by the end of the year!

Phase II I can now incorporate meat into my diet, and also cereals. It hasn't changed much, I still have to practice portion control and trying to get up to 4-5 meals a day. I honestly think this will be harder because I am bringing in more food. But, I've decided to go back and forth between Phase I and Phase II. That way, I won't be eating meats everyday and I will still eat as much veggies.

So, wish me luck guys!
