One Week...

So, last week I decided to start my dieting and exercising over. I wouldn't say it went bad, but it didn't go the way I planned...

I actually found Dr. Ian's new book "The 4-day Diet." This one may be more strict than his fat smash diet. He actually lists out the things that u are supposed to eat, where as with the Fat Smash, you can pick the healthy foods you want to eat within each phase. The first 2 days, I did well, but I was stupid hungry!!! I would be at work STARVING!!! The third day, my brother cooked pasta. I ate it, and it was DELICIOUS!! LOL. I worked out though. The good thing is, I have a gym in my apartment building, so I don't have to worry about going back out when I get off of work to go workout. I get off work, change clothes, and go downstairs to workout. I worked out for 30 minutes each day I went. I implemented as many fruits and veggies as I could. I will admit, I cheated...A LOT. I ate pasta 3 days in a row! That was for dinner. During the day, I ate simple, small, healthy meals. For breakfast, I would eat oatmeal (which I used to hate, but now I can't get enough of it) or a fruit smoothie. For lunch, it was always a small salad, with just veggies (no meat, no croutons, or anything.)  Well, doing so, even though I was KILLING that pasta, I lost 3 pounds this past week!!

I actually JUST stepped on the scale before I started writing this and I was SHOCKED!!! I got off and on the scale 3 TIMES, just to make sure it was right. I was like...WOW! I was expecting to lose 1 pound, but 3? This was good. I am back on track to where I was before. When I started my diet earlier this year, I was losing AT LEAST 3 pounds a week, so I am glad that I am doing well. I can't help but to think that if I had done what I was supposed to do, I probably would have lost more!

I've come to learn that the keys to success of weight loss are:
Motivation- Find out what yours is. Losing weight because others are telling you that you need to, won't get you far. You have to want to do it for YOURSELF!! If you are happy the way you are, and you just want to be healthy, do that!
Portion Control- Eat small meals throughout the day. ALWAYS eat breakfast. A fruit smoothie, a small bowl of cereal. Make sure you eat a small lunch and dinner. Also, eat small snacks throughout the day. Fruits, veggies, rice cakes. Eating small meals throughout the day (about every 3-4 hours) will keep you less hungry, and you won't always feel hungry.
Exercise- Exercise is very important. It helps with your metabolism, and it will actually make you feel better. I used to EAT when I got frustrated or mad. Now, working out fills that void. It will also help you with muscle tone and energy.
Support- Not everyone will support your decision to lose weight. Some people don't want you to. There are others out there who do want to see you happy. I have many!!! My mom always supports me. We support each other.

I've also decided to reward myself for every 5 pounds I lose. 2 more pounds, and I can get my hair done!!! 10 pounds, mani/pedi!!! So, by Christmas, I will have my hair, nails, and feet done!!!
These things got me through my last diet, which was very hard, and it will get me through this one. I don't know if I will follow the Dr. Ian's 4-day diet, exactly, but I will do my best!! I will probably switch between this one and the Fat Smash Diet.
If anyone wants any details about each diet, just let me know in the comments section!!!

  1. Good job Jazz! You can do it! It is hard to undo the bad habits we develop. Exercise and portion control definitely work. And exercise does make us feel better. Your Mom and I try to keep each other motivated and talk about what we eat. If we eat something we think we shouldn't have, we don't beat ourselves up about it. Take it one day at a time. Love you.
